A Victorian 2.5 inch magnifying glass with bone handle and stanhope at the end with later glass. The bone has been hollowed out in the centre and is highly patterned. Stanhopes are optical devices to allow you to view a microphotograph without using a microscope. The pictures in the end of the microscope show scenes in Dover.
